Ball Gown Skirt

I'm head over heels for classic ball gown skirts and some of their trendier counterparts. As evidenced by my preference to wear tulle skirts whenever possible (see here, here, and here), the ball gown skirt's femininity takes me by storm.
Am I the only one who longs for time eras when it was perfectly normal to dress up on every occasion?
Curls Gone Wild
It's ironic, although I was not a fan of maxi skirts, in the last two years several have made their way inside my style loving heart. See examples here and here. My style is an evolution, I'm so curious to see what additions 2015 will bring ;) Have you set new style goals for 2015?

Sunnies: Betsey Johnson
Silk blouse: Ralph Lauren (also worn here)
Ball Gown Skirt: Thrifted
Clutch: Vintage (worn here)

  1. That skirt is AMAZING! I can't believe you found it at a thrift store.

I long for the eras when it was normal to dress up on every occasion too!

    1. Thanks Laura! Some of my best pieces are thrifted; Quality, one of a kind pieces! They say history repeats itself, let's hope those style eras will too ;)

  5. Joi, you look absolutely stunning. The great thing about this look is that you're wearing it and it isn't wearing you. Beautiful fabrication, color, structure...an amazing find.

  6. Simply lovely--can't believe that skirt is thrifted. Skirts are hot right now. I've seen skirts like that selling for $200 or more. Go Queen!

    1. Hey Robin! Thank you!! I've seen some of those prices, $$$ = insanity IMO! I could have one made for cheaper! This one has a tulle petticoat underneath, which adds to the fullness and dramatic flair :)

  8. So lovely, how do you get thrifted clothes that fit you so well. Do you get them tailored? I can never find clothes that fit that well on me. Love the color!

    1. Thank you!!! My waist size allows for me to wear a variety of sizes (from 8-16) and silhouettes, especially a-line cuts. This skirt is actually too large for me, but the volume of the skirt diverts attention. I only have 2 vintage/thrifted pieces to date that I've actually had altered ;)
